Google is restoring missing reviews in Google Business Profiles after repairing a bug that triggered them to get removed.
Google is fixing a bug that caused reviews to go missing from Google Company Profiles. Google confirms evaluations are getting brought back. Google’s Search Liaison, Danny Sullivan, revealed on Buy Twitter Verified in reply to Mike Blumenthal, who says he reported the bug a week ago.
Our apologies here. The group knows this bug and has actually been actively resolving it. Lots of evaluations have been restored, and that work will continue.

Blumenthal isn’t overemphasizing the severity of the bug. Reviews are a restaurant’s support, and eliminating them can considerably impact profits.
There are various threads in the Google Organization Profile help online forums begun by company owner who lost most or all of their reviews.
In each thread, business owners share something in typical. After using Google’s suggested edits to their service profile, they all lost reviews.
Blumenthal composes in a post that he discovered Google was changing the consumer recognition (CID) number when companies used suggested edits:
“With some digging, I found that in each case Google had changed the CID, the identifier Google utilizes to tie all appropriate details to a service, consisting of evaluations. Typically the CID only alters when 2 listings combine or Google has actually hard-suspended a listing for standards violations and after that restored it.”
Customer evaluations are associated with a specific CID number, which means altering the CID eliminates the reviews.
That should never take place, particularly not when using Google’s recommended edits.
A repair is on the way, and hopefully, it’s as simple as going back the impacted Google Business Profiles to their original CID numbers.
We’ll upgrade this post if Google shares additional info.
